How do prices vary around the globe?

This global ranking compares Nutella prices across countries using a standardized metric: EUR per 100 grams (EUR/100g). By normalizing prices this way, we make it easy to compare jars of different sizes and currencies on a like-for-like basis.

Whether you are a traveler, a curious foodie, or just someone who loves Nutella, this ranking gives a clear snapshot of how prices vary worldwide.

How to read this ranking

Each country shows the statistic its evidence supports: a single observation is reported as itself, a small sample as a preliminary average, and a large sample as a median.

EUR/100g: Core metric: local prices are converted to euros and normalized by package size, so values are directly comparable.
Observations: How many eligible observations sit behind the figure. The confidence badge next to each country turns that count, its sources and its age into one rule-based level.
Latest update: The date of the most recent observation. Past 18 months a country is marked out of date; past 48 months it moves to the historical archive.

Inside each country, you can inspect every observation, including:

Product size (e.g. 200g, 750g)
Local price and converted EUR value
Calculated EUR/100g value
Date of collection
Data source

What this ranking shows

Prices can vary dramatically from country to country. Possible factors include import costs, local demand, taxes, and distribution — our dataset does not measure these variables directly.

Some countries rank near the top with premium pricing; there, Nutella may be positioned as more of a luxury item.
Others show surprisingly affordable prices; possible explanations include stronger local availability or lower logistics costs.

Inspired by real-world travel

This project takes inspiration from HumanSafari (Nicolò Balini), a travel creator known for exploring local supermarkets around the world. During his trips, he started casually tracking Nutella prices across countries, turning a simple curiosity into a global comparison.

The initial dataset comes directly from his videos and continues to grow with new contributions and updated observations.
